Tomorrow evening, the inaugural Belgian-Australian Excellence Awards will officially take centre stage at the Embassy of Belgium in Canberra, bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, researchers and community figures who continue to strengthen the relationship between Belgium and Australia.

After weeks of nominations, public voting and growing excitement across the Belgian-Australian community, the ceremony will finally recognise the individuals and organisations whose work is helping shape stronger bilateral connections across business, culture, innovation and society.

A New Platform Celebrating Belgian-Australian Excellence

The Belgian-Australian Excellence Awards were created to recognise the outstanding individuals, businesses and initiatives helping strengthen the relationship between Belgium and Australia. From entrepreneurship and scientific research to gastronomy, culture and community leadership, the awards celebrate the diversity of talent and innovation emerging across the Belgian-Australian landscape.

More than a traditional awards program, this inaugural edition reflects the growing depth of bilateral collaboration between both countries. The strong public response, with thousands of votes cast and significant engagement from the community, already highlights the appetite for greater visibility and recognition of these cross-border achievements.

  This year’s awards recognise excellence across six categories, each celebrating a different aspect of Belgian-Australian collaboration and achievement.
• Arts & Culture Award
  Recognising individuals or organisations contributing to artistic, cultural and creative exchange between Belgium and Australia.

  Celebrating chefs, producers, hospitality professionals and culinary innovators bringing Belgian excellence to the Australian market.

  Highlighting entrepreneurs and business leaders building successful ventures and strengthening economic ties between both countries.
• STEM, Research & Academia Award
  Recognising achievements in science, technology, engineering, research and academic collaboration.
• Community & Social Impact Award
  Celebrating initiatives and individuals making a meaningful social contribution within the Belgian-Australian community.
• High Impact Corporate Award
  Recognising established companies creating significant economic, technological or societal impact across the Belgian-Australian business landscape.

How the Winners Will Be Selected

Following the public voting phase, the finalists have now entered the final stage of evaluation led by an independent jury composed of Sponsor Representatives and Institutional Representatives from across the Belgian-Australian ecosystem.

The Sponsor Representatives bring strong expertise from the private sector, entrepreneurship, business development and industry leadership, while the Institutional Representatives contribute perspectives from diplomacy, public affairs, academia, media and bilateral relations. Together, the jury reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the awards and ensures a balanced and credible evaluation process.

We are also proud to share that Bilateral Solutions’ Founder and Director, Martine Joly, is part of this year’s jury panel, contributing her expertise and experience in international business and cross-border collaboration.

After considering both the public voting results and the jury’s assessment, the winners will be officially announced during tomorrow evening’s ceremony at the Embassy of Belgium in Canberra.
